A "beachfront pool, tiki bar and great ocean views" please guests at this "motel", but the rooms' panoramas also include "a garbage dump" (rendering some balconies "unusable"), while "dank and musty" quarters have beds with "sheets worn thin in places", as well as "stained carpeting" and "broken" doors that require "full blunt force" to be opened; but for many the "great location" and "cheap" price trump the "dingy" accommodations.

It was the dirtiest, nastiest hotel I have ever stayed in.

The hotel lobby will fool you into thinking you are staying at a decent hotel. I realize it is in Daytona Beach and with Spring Break, Bike Week and everything that goes on there the hotels are not great. ...read more

The staff , and cleanliness

The staff had no customer service skills and at times rude. The hotel rooms seemed dirty. I was afraid to walk around barefoot on carpet. I would not stay at this hotel again.

The staff was very good in helping us with our problems.

Not what we saw online.

When we got there our room was not what we booked, and it was changed. We got to our room and the ceiling was on the floor and we had to change. Got to second room, floor was very wet. We did stay because we were tired and didn't want to change rooms again. The room smelled musty but we put up with it, opened the door which didn't want to. New Years Day, we came back that night and the floor had two inches of water on it and called front desk changed rooms again. Packed up moved to new room and unpacked again. Went to use the phone and it did not work, had to go back down to desk and the maintenance may came up and told us that this room was not to be rented out because the phone wires were bad. The mold and smell in the second room was unbelievable. The staff was very good in helping us out but, still this did not make us feel any better about the hotel. The restaurant was only open for breakfast and the lounge was only open three days while we were there. ...read more

Bugs/ants in room.

When we told the front desk about the ants in the room she sent maintenance with bug spray the next morning the bug were still there. When we told the front desk in the morning again that the ants were still there she said "Uh Oh" I though that was very unprofessional. I don't like anything the hotel was nasty.

Everything was nasty in the room.

I will never recommend La Playa hotel to no one, everything was old and ugly, the carpet smell bad, and it was full of stain that was nasty to walk without shoes on, and it was not continental breakfast like in La Quinta hotel. ...read more
